Tax Questions:
What is the tax rate in Grand Isle?
The 2019-2020 combined municipal and education tax rates are: Residential $1.8055 and Non-Residential $1.8029.
When are taxes due?
Tax installments are due and payable October 31st, January 31st and April 30th of each year. Interest is charged at 1% per month after the installment date. In addition, an 8% collection fee is charged after the April 30th installment.
How do I pay my taxes?
Property tax bills are sent out in mid-September only to each property owner who is responsible for notifying their escrow companies of the taxes which are due. Information concerning payments by credit/debit card and e-checks is available on the Town Clerk’s page of this website. There is a drop slot available for your convenience. If you would like a receipt, please note that on your envelope. Town Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The office is also open Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. We accept post marked tax payments. Property owners must file a Homestead Declaration yearly with the State of Vermont Department of Taxation.
Where is the transfer station?
The transfer station is located on Hanson Lane off Pearl Street.
Do I need a sticker? How much are they?
Yes, you need a sticker. For Grand Isle residents, the first one is free and if you lose it, the second one is $5.00. If you are not a Grand Isle resident, it is $75.00 per sticker for one year.
Where do I get a transfer station sticker?
You can purchase the sticker at the Grand Isle Town Office, located at 9 Hyde Road, Grand Isle, VT 05458 or at the Transfer Station on Hanson Lane off Pearl Street.
When is the transfer station open?
The transfer station is open Thursdays 4 pm – 7pm and Saturdays 8 am – 2 pm

Is there is leash law in Grand Isle?
Yes, there is leash law in the town Grand Isle. Please keep your animals leashed.

Do I have to register my dog?
Yes, all dogs six months of age or older shall be registered on or before April 1st of each year. A current certificate of Rabies Vaccination is required. The fee for licensing unspayed or unneutered dogs is $15 and for spayed or neutered dogs is $10. There is a fee increase after April 1st.
