The Selectboard of the Town of Grand Isle does hereby ordain:
Pursuant to 23 V.S.A. §§ 1007 and 1008, and 24 V.S.A. §§ 1971, 1976, and 2291(1), (4), and (5), the Town of Grand Isle Traffic Ordinance adopted February 6, 2006, is hereby amended as follows:
Article V of said Ordinance is hereby amended to state as follows
ARTICLE V
SPEED REGULATIONS
On the basis of engineering and traffic studies, the following speed limits are hereby established:
TH # 2 (Hyde Road) – A maximum speed of 30 m.p.h. from the intersection with US 2 to the Fire Department/Town Garage, then a maximum speed of 35 m.p.h. to the intersection of Adams School Rd (TH #5).
TH # 13 & 14 (Hodgkins Place) – A maximum speed of 25 m.p.h. for its entire length.
TH # 20 (Hanson Lane) – A maximum speed of 25 m.p.h. for its entire length.
Pearl Street (TH# 17) – A maximum speed of 35 m.p.h. for its entire length.
East Shore South (TH # 3) – A maximum speed of 35 m.p.h. for its entire length.
Griswold Road (TH #1) – A maximum speed of 35 m.p.h. for its entire length.
Adams School Road (TH# 11 & 5) – A maximum speed of 35 m.p.h. for its entire length.
West Shore Road (TH# 1) – A maximum speed of 35 m.p.h. for its entire length.
Reynolds Road (TH# 12 & 16) – A maximum speed of 35 m.p.h. for its entire length.
On the basis of being duly adopted and posted speed limits for more than 10 years, the following speed limits are continued:
30 MPH: East Shore North Donaldson Road Bell Hill Road Town Line Road Allen Road | 35 MPH: Quaker Road Sims Point Road Moccasin Avenue Faywood Road |
The maximum speed limit permitted for any vehicular traffic on U.S. Route 2 and VT 314 within the Town of Grand Isle shall be the same as those limits established and posted by the State of Vermont.
The above speed limits shall be posted in accordance with the standards set forth in the Millennium Edition of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices and shall be in effect when so posted.

This Amendment to the Town of Grand Isle Traffic Ordinance shall become effective on June 30, 2023, unless a petition signed by not less than 5% of the qualified voters of the Town requesting that the adopted amendment be submitted to the voters of the Town at an annual or special meeting is filed with the Town Clerk or Selectboard on or before June 14, 2023.
