Notice of ordinance

            Notice is hereby given to the residents of the Town of Grand Isle that pursuant to 20 V.S.A. § 3549, 24 V.S.A. §§ 2291 (10), (14), and (15), and 24 V.S.A. Chapter 59, on April 17, 2023 the Selectboard adopted an Ordinance Regulating Dogs and Wolf-Hybrids (“Ordinance”) regulating the keeping of dogs and wolf hybrids and providing for their leashing, muzzling, restraint, impoundment and destruction, in order to protect the public health and safety of the Town; preserve the quiet enjoyment of its residents’ homes and properties; and define certain activities as public nuisances.

            The Ordinance in its entirety is available for inspection at the Grand Isle Town Office during regular office hours, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Ordinance is also available on the Town of Grand Isle website: www.grandislevt.org.             This Ordinance shall become effective on June 16, 2023 unless a petition signed by not less than 5% of the qualified voters of the Town requesting that the adopted amendment be submitted to the voters of the Town at an annual or special meeting is presented to the Selectboard or the Town Clerk on or before May 31, 2023.
